I've had this idea in the back of my mind for a few years.

The patterns available for hand-knit golf club covers never stray far from a few basic ideas that have always failed to inspire me. Much like the knitters of today, many of the golfers that I know are pretty hip. This design combines a traditional technique with vibrant colors for a new twist on an old idea.

Rather than numbering the club covers, you choose which color you want to use for each club. A variation would be to knit a number of stripes around the ribbing as a key to the club number.

[MC] Paton's Look at Me, Baby Sport [60% Acrylic/40% Nylon; 152yd/139m per 50g skein]; color: Black #6364; [3] skeins

Although colors are repeated in more than one chart, no more than 1 skein of any CC color is required for all three club covers. All yarns are Paton's Look at Me, Baby Sport [60% Acrylic/40% Nylon; 152 yd/139m per 50g skein]

1 set US #6/4mm double-point needles
[or use your preferred method for knitting in the round]
3 stitch markers
darning needle

26 sts/28 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch

For the bottom ribbing, CO 48 sts in MC onto double-pointed needles.
Leave a long enough tail to darn in.
Work in 2x2 [k2, p2] rib until piece measures 9 inches.
At this point you may want to place a pin or some type of marker to indicate start of round. It does not have to be a marker that gets carried along as you knit.
Next row, k all sts.
Next row, inc 8 sts, evenly spaced -- 56 sts.
Work in St st for 3 inches ending at beg of rnd.
Foll Fair-isle patt from chart beg at the bottom right-hand corner.
Chart repeats 7 times for each rnd. Change colors at beg of rnd.
After chart is completed, work in MC for one inch.
Next rnd, arrange sts on needles as foll: needle 1: 18 sts, needle 2: 19 sts, needle 3: 19 sts. If you are working on 4 dpn or two circular needles, place markers at beg of rnd, k 18 sts, place marker, k 19 sts, place marker.
Start decreasing. Starting at beg of rnd, *k1, k2tog, k to 3 sts before end of needle [or before marker], ssk, k1, [move marker]*
Continue until there are 16 sts remaining. Run end of yarn through remaining sts and pull tight.
