Revue Gouvernance is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes theoretical, empirical and critical articles addressing one or more dimensions of public and social governance in Canada and around the world. Interdisciplinary and multi-methodological, Revue Gouvernance hosts texts of all epistemological and ontological sensitivities, with the dual perspective of enriching positive and normative knowledge about governance, as well as nurturing public debates on the challenges and issues related to its contemporary exercise.

Editorial policy and ethics

EDITORIAL POLICY

Revue Gouvernance is a bilingual (French/English) journal open to publishing individual articles or special issues that focus on a particular governance theme or on governance in a given region.

Each issue contains four individual articles not exceeding 8,000 words each. Individual paper submission guidelines can be found below. 

Proposals for special issues should be 2–3 pages in length and include:

- The title of the proposed special issue;
- The topic explored (approximately 300 words);
- The importance of the topic for public administration research or practice (approximately 300 words);
- A list of the proposed articles and abstracts;
- A list of all authors.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

• Revue Gouvernance does not accept manuscripts already published or submitted to other journals.
• Manuscripts must be submitted to revuegouvernance@uottawa.ca using the author's instructions available at this link:  Instructions for autors
• The maximum size of articles is limited to 8,000 words including text, notes, bibliographic references and appendices, but not including abstracts in both languages. The word count must appear at the end of the article.
• Manuscripts should include two 250-word summary (in English and French) and 3 to 6 keywords in both languages.
• Manuscripts should also include short biographies of each author of a maximum of 15 to 20 words each.
• All references cited in the text should appear bibliography.
• The paper must be in APA Style and the font must be Palatino, 12-point size.

PEER REVIEW POLICY

The management team reviews each manuscript submitted. When the manuscript is of interest for Revue Gouvernance, it is sent for external evaluation.

Evaluations are performed by two evaluators according to a double-blind and anonymous evaluation process.

Evaluators must indicate their recommendation regarding publication of the manuscript. Possible recommendations include:

• Accepted without modifications
• Accepted with minor modifications
• Accepted with major modifications
• Rejected

Taking the evaluation reports into consideration, Revue Gouvernance will decide whether or not a manuscript will be published, and will send the evaluators’ reports to the author(s) so that they can revise their manuscript.

COPYRIGHT POLICY

Authors will keep intellectual property and copyright to their articles.

Authors have the right to republish (self-archive) their article published by Revue Gouvernance. In return, authors must explicitly indicate the complete reference of their article published in Revue Gouvernance, and insert a link to their original article on Érudit.

JOURNAL ARCHIVING

Permanent archiving of Revue Gouvernance is provided by Portico

ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

All manuscripts submitted to Revue Gouvernance must be original works. Manuscripts are screened to ensure that they do not contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

Plagiarism consists in using words, sentences and ideas found elsewhere while passing them off as your own or failing to cite them correctly.

Self-plagiarism involves an author reusing parts of previously published papers while failing to reference the original publication source.

Before publication:

If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is detected before publication and it involves less than 20 % of the manuscript, Revue Gouvernance will ask the author to rewrite the article and add necessary references. If plagiarism concerns more than 20 % of the manuscript, the article will definitely be rejected.

After publication:

If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be withdrawn from the archives of Revue Gouvernance.
