Anne Burke was born in Montreal and has lived across Canada. Formerly prairie correspondent for Poetry Canada Review, she has edited Prairie Journal since 1983. She graduated with a B.A. (Honours English, magna cum laude) from Concordia University, has a B.Ed. from Queen's University, and an M.A. from York University. Her doctoral studies include Contemporary Literature at the University of Ottawa and Canadian Literature at the University of British Columbia. She has also pursued creative writing under the direction of Gerald Lampert, Gwendolyn MacEwen, and Joe Rosenblatt. Currently she serves as a regional representative for Alberta on the League of Canadian Poets' Council, and chair of the Feminist Caucus.
