NEXUS hours extended at Pacific Highway crossing

Surrey, B.C., August 20, 2008 In response to increased traffic congestion during construction at the Peace Arch Border Crossing, the Canada Border Services Agency  announced today that effective immediately the NEXUS lanes at the Pacific Highway crossing will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Hours of operation for the NEXUS lanes:

Northbound (into Canada)

  • Pacific Highway — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Douglas (Peace Arch) — 7 a.m. to 12 midnight.

Southbound (into the United States)

  • Blaine (Pacific Highway) — 7 am to 6 p.m.
  • Peace Arch — 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The NEXUS program expedites the border clearance process for pre-approved, low-risk travellers into Canada and the United States by allowing members to use designated lanes at the land border.  Canada and the United States harmonized all three NEXUS programs (Air, Land and Marine) into one in December 2006 to further improve NEXUS service to the traveling public, while maintaining safety and security.   For more information, visit the NEXUS Web site at www.nexus.gc.ca .
