NAFTA Rules of Origin Regulations
2003-04-16
- Effective March 1, 2000, the attached pages replace the same pages in the previous version of
Memorandum D11-5-1, NAFTA Rules of Origin Regulations, of January 26, 1996. The amended sections
reflect the changes necessary to comply with changes to the Customs Act and have been side-barred for
your convenience. The following sections are amended: 2(1) "light-duty vehicle"; 5(4)(a), (b), (d) and (i);
6(6)(d)(iv) and (9); 8 "class of motor vehicles" (c); and Schedule IV.
- Also attached are the replacement pages that amend references to the Customs Act, effective
March 28, 2001. These amendments were recommended by the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny
of the Regulations and are side-barred for your convenience. The following sections are amended: 2(1)
"verification of origin" (a); and 7(9)(a) and (10)(b).
- Replacement pages are also included for amendments that were proposed by the Working Group on
Rules of Origin and approved for implementation on December 28, 2001. These changes are introduced for
clarification purposes and are also side-barred. The following sections are amended: 2(6)(f); 5(4)(c); 7(16),
(16.1) and (16.2); 12(5)(a) and (b); 16(3); Schedule IV; Schedule VII and Schedule X.
