Export and Import of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Material

  1. This memorandum has been updated to reflect the Export and Import of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Recyclable Material Regulations and outlines procedures for the importation, exportation and transits of hazardous waste and hazardous recyclable material.
  2. Authorized carriers of hazardous waste and hazardous recyclable material are now responsible for providing the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) with photocopies of the movement document and permit. These documents are to be provided to the CBSA when the export, import or transit of the hazardous waste or hazardous recyclable material shipments is required to be reported under the Customs Act.
