What is the Alternative Forms of Delivery approach?
PWGSC has established innovative partnerships with the private sector for the delivery of property management and project delivery services for most of the buildings under its custody. By leveraging private sector expertise, the Alternative Forms of Delivery (AFD) approach has proven to be an efficient and responsive way of serving Canadians, while continuing to provide clients with healthy, safe and productive work environments.
Following a fair, transparent and competitive process, PWGSC awarded eight AFD contracts to SNC-Lavalin ProFac, of Toronto, Ontario. These contracts started April 1, 2005 for an initial term of four years, with options at the Crown's discretion of extending them for up to an additional six years. They include 319 office buildings across the country, totaling 2.9 million square metres.
