  • ensures that departmental finances are managed with prudence and probity, within the financial management frameworks of the Department and the Government of Canada;
  • provides professional financial management analysis, advice, guidance and decision support, as well as operational accounting and reporting services to the Minister, Deputy Minister, and departmental management;
  • serves to optimize the departmental financial resource investments in support of the Department's strategic and operational objectives; and
  • provides functional direction in the development of financial management process improvements and appropriate controls and tools.
