Pay Transformation Initiative:

Pay Modernization: Preparing for Fit-to-Standard Phase

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is actively preparing for the arrival of a Systems Integrator (SI) which will implement a new pay solution. The bid evaluation and procurement process is ongoing and we are confident that we will be in a position to announce a contract award in late June.

This will be a very important milestone in the Transformation of Pay Administration Initiative. The event will mark the beginning of our collaboration with our private sector partner who will work with us over the next four years.

One of the first tasks to be undertaken once the SI is adopted is called "Fit-to-Standard". During this phase, the SI and the PWGSC Project Team, in cooperation with a number of people from various departments and agencies, will work together to identify and document the gaps between the SI's proposed solution and the legislative and policy requirements. The Project Team is currently mapping the Pay Modernization requirements in preparation for the Fit-to-Standard exercise.

We will be providing you with ongoing information on our progress.

Consolidation of Pay Services: Tools to Assist the Compensation Community

We are currently finalizing the work on practical tools to assist departments in the development of individual employee transition plans. These tools will be provided to all departments and agencies during the summer months. This coincides well with departmental planning processes and activities, including learning plans.

On another note, work is progressing well with Public Service Alliance of Canada as we prepare for the second Union Management Consultations Committee meeting which will take place on May 26. Our discussions have been constructive and cordial. We trust that this collaborative relationship will benefit all parties. We all share a common goal - arriving at the best results for our employees.
