About our Club:

The Kingston Lapidary & Mineral Club was founded in 1962. It has provided a positive environment for local rockhounds and lapidary enthusiasts alike to develop their interests, to meet and share information and ideas, and to promote interest in the earth sciences. Our club is very active. In addition to our regular meetings, we hold bi-weekly lapidary instructions at our workshops, as well as shows and monthly field trips throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Our club also runs a "Junior Club" for youth aged 8 to 13. Activities include monthly meetings, field trips, guest speakers, crafts, swaps, lapidary instruction and a whole lot more to interest a budding young Rockhound!

Our club hosts an Annual Gem & Mineral Show in October each year, and it is always a big hit with local residents and rockhounds alike. In addition, we also organize a Summer Mineral and Lapidary Sale & Swap.

Annual Gem & Mineral Show:

Each year our club organizes a gem and mineral show held in October at the Portsmouth Olympic Centre. The show features the display and sale of jewelry, rocks and minerals, as well as lapidary demonstrations. Lapidary tools and equipment, and various decorative items which can be made from rocks and minerals are available as well. Dealers are always welcome to participate at our annual show.

If you would like to be a dealer in our show, please contact the Show Chairman, Les Moss at moss@kingston.net or call (613) 384-4439. If you want an application mailed, please send your request by e-mail to moss@kingston.net.

Annual Summer Mineral & Lapidary
Swap & Sale:

Another popular event organized by our club is the annual sale and swap, which is usually held in late August, at the Frontenac Mall, Bath Road, in Kingston. The Mall provides free advertising to maximize the attendance and participation of the Greater Kingston community and tourist population. Free admission for the public as well as club displays help draw attention and create interest in this fascinating hobby.

If you would like to attend this show as a vendor or swapper, please send your request by e-mail to moss@kingston.net with your telephone and mailing address, so that an application can be sent. Cost per space is $30 for the two-day show. Spaces are 6 feet deep with a 15 foot front to accommodate 2 six foot tables. Electricity is provided.

Membership:

Annual membership fees are: $12 for Individuals, $16 for Families, and $8 for Juniors. The membership year starts in December. New members are welcome anytime.

The Kingston Lapidary & Mineral Club publishes a newsletter, "The Streak Plate", 5 times each year. For more information on advertising or subscriptions, please contact Eileen Moss at (613) 384-4439, or moss@kingston.net.
