Butterfly House
Butterfly House by

Both Sabrina and Jackson have reasons to forget about the past. Sharing a fresh start in a new house that neither of them can afford alone seems a logical solution. The animosity they feel towards one another is easily resolved by occupying separate wings of the huge house.

This particular house is special to both of them for entirely different reasons. They’re both interested in ghosts and the Hanley house is reportedly haunted. They aren’t disappointed. Almost immediately, strange, questionable occurrences begin to turn sinister and threatening. Before long, both Sabrina and Jackson are wondering who wants them out of the house. Why are their clocks losing time? Do ghosts leave footprints? Is it even remotely possible that the house itself is actually alive?

Sheils has created a very complex plot and illustrated it well. Both Sabrina and Jackson are colorfully drawn, although their motivations are unclear in the beginning. Sheils’ strength is in her descriptive phrasing, allowing readers to vividly imagine the frightening scenarios that begin early and steadily increase throughout. BUTTERFLY HOUSE is a gripping page-turner, with mounting suspense right to the very end.
