Two telephone calls, deadlines and dead bodies serve as the opener for Dem Bones’ Revenge, the second installment in the Tracy Eaton Mystery series. Mystery novelist Tracy Eaton finds herself submerged in a bad day, and continues to feel as if she might be drowning as bad day goes to worse day.

Tracy’s publisher plans to kill her mystery series. The editor wants major revamping done. If Tracy doesn’t conform to the editor’s manuscript changes, she will lose the series. Tracy knows she will need to dedicate every minute to rewriting if she wants to save her latest novel. And to her surprise and dismay, Tracy learns that her mother, major Hollywood legend Martha Collins, may be connected to the murder of Vince Sperry.

As if having one’s life suddenly twisted upside down isn’t enough, Tracy’s situation only seems to get worse as she rushes to her mother’s side, ready to take on her defense and do any investigative research necessary. Where Robin Hood had a band of merry men to aid him in his quest to help the poor, Tracy finds herself surrounded by good - albeit, odd - friends. Tracy and her band of merry friends dig into Martha Collins’ past in search of the truth, the way grave robbers dig up long ago buried and forgotten caskets. But digging into the past is scary, and the answers to the truth might be buried where one is digging. One never knows what will be unearthed.

Dem Bones’ Revenge is entertaining, full of fun scenes and intelligent narrative, with a comfortable pace and a cast of memorable characters.
