At the Library on CAP Developmental Assignments

The National Library of Canada is pleased to welcome Meredith Ramsey and Marvin Hare on developmental assignments as part of the Accelerated Aboriginal Recruitment component to the Career Assignment Program (CAP).

Marvin Hare started a one-year assignment at the National Library of Canada, Information Technology Services (ITS) Branch, on April 30, 2001. His sponsoring department is the National Archives.

Working under Louis Forget, Director General, ITS, Marvin Hare is currently the project manager for the Information Holdings Management System, which will be implemented at the National Archives Federal Record Centres. He is also analyzing the benefits of the Records, Document and Information Management System (RDIMS) and how it will impact the Library and Archives and is participating on a number of groups and committees within the two departments. Along with these activities, Marvin Hare is busy completing the final year of his MBA at the University of Ottawa.

Before coming to the public service, Mr. Hare worked as a consultant, managing projects for non-profit and non-governmental organizations.

Meredith Ramsey

Meredith Ramsey

Meredith Ramsey came to the National Library in April 2001 as a CAP Aboriginal candidate. She brings with her experience in special projects consulting and intergovernmental and cross-sector partnership development.

Meredith Ramsey has accepted several challenges while at the Library. She is currently completing a revision of spending on national and international organizations and has undertaken the management of the most recent phase of the National Library’s Aboriginal Resources and Services program. Her work with the program involves recommending the nomination of an advisory committee from Aboriginal communities in Canada; identifying existing collections and services at the National Library; identifying the key information needs related to Aboriginal resources, in consultation with the communities and with other cultural institutions; and creating a business plan for the service, including a communications plan for its promotion.
