CCDPC Major Programs

The Canadian Childhood Cancer Surveillance and Control Program (CCCSCP)

Art and Creative Writing Contest

The CCCSCP, in conjunction with Candlelighters Canada and Leucan, periodically holds a national "Kid's Drawing and Creative Writing Contest". The contest is an opportunity for children with cancer, their families and survivors to creatively share their feelings and ideas about their experience through pictures, stories or poems. There are three age groups 4-7, 8-12, and 13 and older. The winners for each age group are chosen based on creativity and their depiction of ideas and feelings about their experience with childhood cancer. Winning entries are published and displayed in newsletters, reports and on the CCCSCP website. In addition, entries received are randomly selected and displayed at meetings, conferences and other awareness promotional events and will be included in the second edition of the childhood cancer monograph "This Battle Which I Must Fight".
