Terry's case: A Youth at Risk

Specific Learning Objectives of Terry's Case

At the end of Terry's case, the participant will be able to:

1. Properly question a youth to identify STI risk by probing the six relevant components of the STI Risk Evaluation Questionnaire.

2. Adequately screen a youth most at risk for STIs. This includes testing for Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Treponema pallidum (syphilis), hepatitis B virus, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with pre and post-test counselling. This may also include hepatitis C virus and TB screening if appropriate.

3. Plan prevention strategies specific to youth most at risk for STIs, including STI prevention, drug use risk reduction and proper linkage to social, mental and health resources.
