Minister of State (Public Health) Dr. Carolyn Bennett, Chief Public Health Officer Dr. David Butler-Jones and officials of the Public Health Agency of Canada will be key participants at the Canadian Public Health Association's 96th annual conference in Ottawa (Sept. 18-21). The theme of the conference is “Mapping the Future of Public Health.”
Drs. Bennett and Butler-Jones will give remarks at the Opening Session on Sunday evening, as well as participate in a Public Forum on Monday evening and a Plenary discussion on Health Goals and Indicators on Tuesday afternoon. The Minister will close the conference Wednesday with an update on the Public Health Goals for Canada initiative.
Dr. Butler-Jones will also address the conference on Monday morning. In addition, Agency scientists and officials will be participating in numerous workshops throughout the conference.
Conference plenaries and workshops are open to the media. Minister Bennett will be available to the media following the Opening Session, the Public Forum and the Health Goals and Indicators Plenary discussion.

Winnipeg - The Public Health Agency of Canada and Manitoba Health will be hosting an antiviral conference called "Combating Influenza: The potential of antivirals" in Winnipeg from March 22-23, 2005.
The conference offers an opportunity to review the latest science on antiviral drugs and their practical application during an influenza pandemic, or during annual epidemics.
