Sherri Helwig - Senior Research Fellow

Sherri Helwig is a Senior Research Fellow with the Canadian Conference of the Arts and a Scholar-in-Residence at American University in Washington D.C. during her 2010-2011 sabbatical from the University of Toronto (where she holds the position of Program Director for the Arts Management Specialist programs and develops curriculum for and teaches practice and policy-related courses). She has previously taught for York University, Humber College and the Harris Institute for the Arts, and has lectured extensively across Canada and within the United States, Italy, Finland and The Netherlands on subjects ranging from cultural entrepreneurship, to comparative copyright policies, to the impact and use of digital technologies to support, preserve and share creative production. She is President of the Canadian Association of Arts Administration Educators (CAAAE), an executive board member of the international Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), a Founding Director of the Peer Teaching and Learning network (PeTAL) at the University of Toronto, and a Founding Member of Arts Consultants Canada / Consultants canadiens en arts (ACCA).  Sherri continues her work as an independent arts consultant with her own business (S.L. Helwig & Associates) and an extensive client list including the Canada Council for the Arts, the Associated Designers of Canada, the Cultural Human Resources Council, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Canadian Museums Association, the Professional Writers Association of Canada, the Guild of Canadian Film Composers, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
