The Chalmers Conference is designed and intended specifically for representatives of arts service and cultural organizations. Click here to view our presenters' biographies.

A discussion paper based on feedback from Arts Service Organizations (ASOs) regarding their top three cultural policy issues and concerns will be available for Chalmers Conference delegates in advance of the conference.

The 2006 National Policy Conference is an opportunity for all conference delegates to explore the question of cultural policy: Does Canada have one?

Three discussion papers will be available to National Policy Conference delegates ahead of time. Click here for a synopsis of each one.

  • Policy Issues Facing Artists and Creators – a background document for the artists and creators workshop covering copyright, freedom of expression, status of the artist, taxation and social benefits [summary / complete paper ]
  • Policy Issues Facing Producers and Cultural Industries – a background document for the producers and cultural industries workshop covering Canadian content, foreign ownership and convergence [summary / complete paper ]
