Isabella Preston at O.A.C. Gardens |
|
Interested in furthering her knowledge of plants, Isabella enrolled in the
department of horticulture at the Ontario Agricultural College (now University
of Guelph). In 1913, she began working for the College. There, she learned the
basics of the new science of plant breeding.
Though she rarely smiled for the camera, Isabella was undoubtedly happy and in her
element at Guelph. This photo shows her, hair shorn and wearing work clothes, at the
O.A.C. gardens in 1918.
