Kynoch Valley. Photo by Gayle Trivers

Kynoch is a small rural community located in a fertile valley in the rugged wilderness of the Mississagi River Valley. This picturesque community can be found fifteen miles north of Highway 17 on Highway 554, in Ontario, Canada. It is situated on the lovely and wild Little White River, which is a tributary of the Mississagi River. Settled in 1888, many of Kynoch's current residents are descendants of the pioneers. The farming roots of the community have spanned five generations. Change is slow in the valley, and often the technology of today can be seen operating with past technology. Life proceeds at a leisurely pace.

Though the valley has been settled for over one hundred years, the residents still live in the firm grip of the wilderness. All farms are bordered on one side by forest, and its wild inhabitants. If not maintained, cleared land is quickly reclaimed by nature.

With a population of less than 80, residents live in the surroundings of wild beauty and are awed by the entertainments that nature provides.
