area that has a solid black underside, with dashes of white on its back. Along with the black and white the male Bobolink also has a yellow band along the back of its head. In the winter the male changes to a pale yellow-brown, loosing all white tones, and becoming dashed with black, to match the female exactly. They have a very ecstatic, bubbly sounding song, and when migrating a clear "pink" tune can be heard as they fly overhead. They can be found in hay fields and meadows during the summer, and they spend their winters in South America.
