has only recently been considered one. It, along with a few other species, were once considered to be part of another family because they were swimmers. They have extremely long bills, and are brown with buff stripes on their backs and heads. When in flight you can identify them by their zig-zag pattern of flying, and their short, orange tails. Their call is kind of raspy and sounds like "a chip-a, chip-a". They can be found in or near marshes, bogs, and wet meadows.
