The most striking feature of the Mississagi River Valley is its rugged natural splendor. In the summer, the vegetation is lush and green, contrasting with the bright blue of the sky. Autumn brings forth a magnificent display of brilliant colour when the leaves change. In winter the coniferous trees take the spotlight standing out against the brilliant snow. Many animals hibernate, but hardy birds such as the nuthatch, gros beaks and gold finch enliven the forests with their clear, high voices and brilliant colors. Spring brings new life, heralded by the arrival of violets, trout lilies and many creatures waking from their long winters sleep. Life in the Mississagi River Valley is truly varied and splendid.
