Central Mixedwood SubregionSurficial materials in the Central Mixedwood Subregion are predominantly till as ground moraine and hummocky moraine landforms with some areas of Aeolian dunes, sandy outwash plain, and glaciolacustrine plain. The terrain has low relief and a level to undulating surface. The Subregion includes much of the central and southeastern part of the Boreal Forest Natural Region and is the largest Subregion in Alberta. Highland plateaus and hill masses within the Central Mixedwood Subregion are mostly placed in other Subregions such as the Boreal Highlands although similarities are apparent.
