Edmonton Valley Zoo
Falcons and Otters and Geese, oh my! Animal lovers, this is the place for you! With more
species of animals than most people could ever dream of, the
Valley Zoo in Edmonton is a favourite place for kids and adults alike.
If you wanted to see many of the species of animals found in Alberta, you could be out in the bushes for a long time! At the Valley Zoo you'll find many species of mammals and birds that
would otherwise take countless hours to find in the wild. Animals like the Barred Owl, the endangered Peregrine Falcon and even the mysterious Canada Lynx call the Valley Zoo their home. The Valley Zoo has animals native to other parts of the world as well, making this the animal-lovers paradise.
The Valley Zoo doesn't just take care of animals - they are also actively involved in conservation of animal species at risk. If you are interested in helping out, the Zoo provides educational programs, family adventures and even organizes corporate functions to raise money to keep
endangered species alive and well.
Of course, there are few things kids love more than the zoo. The Valley Zoo caters specifically to kids, offering a petting zoo, and a train ride through the zoo. They even offer camel rides for youngsters who are a bit more adventurous.
Have you ever wanted to adopt an animal from the zoo? Well, the Valley Zoo lets people do that, too! Anyone can adopt an animal, but sorry - you can't take it home. The expertly trained zookeepers are the perfect caretakers for your adopted animal.
If you're at the zoo and you want some specific information, you can take in a show and learn about things like birds of prey and sea lions. Or if you would rather do things yourself you can just wander around and enjoy the animals.
