Loggerhead ShrikeManagement
Knowledge and activities related to Loggerhead Shrikes
in Alberta increased markedly during the 1980s and 1990s. During
this period there was widespread understanding that the population of
Loggerhead Shrikes was declining throughout most of their range.
This led to classification the species as
threatened in Canada in
1986. Activities related to the management of Loggerhead Shrikes
in Alberta have occurred on several fronts, including planning, habitat
management and education, research and population inventory. Reprinted from Alberta Wildlife Status Report No. 24 (1999), with permission from Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. |
