Displays and describes several hundred Judaica objects from the collection of the Czechoslovak State Jewish Museum in Prague. In addition, it provides a history of the Czech Jewish community. This book is an excellent compilation of Jewish artifacts which survived the Holocaust.

Barnett, R.D ed. Catalogue of the Permanent and Loan Collection of the Jewish Museum London. London: Harvey Miller, 1974. (coloured and black and white photographs)
Displays and describes over one thousand objects from the Jewish Museum in London. This book is particularly useful for those looking for a comprehensive catalogue of Jewish art.

Bialer, Yehuda L and Estelle fink. Jewish Life In Art and Tradition. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1975 (coloured photographs).
Displays and describes several hundred Judaica objects. The objects are divided according to Jewish holidays and life-cycle events. The book provides a well-organized and comprehensive examination of Jewish artifacts within an historical framework.

Encyclopedia Judaica. Jerusalem: MacMillan Company, 1971 (mostly black and white photographs).
A multi-volume reference book with entries focussing on all facets of Judaism. Although some photographs are illustrations are included, this encyclopedia is primarily text-based.

Fishof, Iris. Jewish Art Masterpieces. Jerusalem: Hugh Lauter Levin, 1994 (coloured photographs).
Displays and describes approximately fifty Judaical objects from the collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Since the objects are organized according to their country of origin, this book serves as an excellent reference for individuals interested in the impact of regional differences on Judaica.

Gersh, Harry. When a Jew Celebrates. West Orange, New Jersey: Behram House, 1986 (no photographs).
Provides concise descriptions of Jewish holidays and important life-cycle events. As well, a glossary of Hebrew terms is given. Intended primarily for adolescents, this book serves as an excellent introduction to Judaism.

Grossman, Cissy. A Temple Treasury. New York: Hudson Hills, 1989 (black and white photographs).
Displays and describes two hundred objects from the Judaica collection at the Temple Emanu-el synagogue in New York City. Several essays concerning the history of the congregation, the museum collection, and the Temple Emanu-el building are also included. Although it provides little artistic analysis, it does provide detailed descriptions of the objects included.

Kanof, Abram. Jewish Ceremonial Art and Religious Observance. New York: 1969 (coloured and black and white pictures).
Provides a comprehensive yet readable examination of the historical evolution of Jewish art. In addition, the book analyzes the symbolic meaning of select liturgical objects in the context of the holiday or event for which they are used.

Seidman, Hillel. The Glory of the Jewish Holidays. New York: Shengold Publishers, 1969 (black and white photographs).
Describes the major Jewish holidays and the various customs, traditions, and historical events associated with these holidays. Although few Judaica objects are displayed, the book does provide a solid introduction to Judaism.

Weinberg, Fred. The Jewish Life Cycle. Toronto: Koffler Gallery, 1984 (black and white photographs).
Displays approximately a hundred Judaica objects. Although little description is provided of the individual objects, the major Jewish holidays and life-cycle events are briefly defined.

Weinstein, Jay. A Collectors' Guide to Judaica. London: Thames and Hudson, 1985 (mostly black and white photographs).
Displays and describes over three hundred Judaica objects. A price guide and a listing of museums with Judaica collections is also included. Overall, the book provides a comprehensive examination of Judaica in the context of Jewish history and tradition.
