Kosapsom Artifact Collection

About the historic site
The Kosapsom archaeological village site, or the DcRu4, is an area on the shore of the Gorge waterway in Kosapsom Park, Victoria, British Columbia. Today it is also the location of the 1850's Craigflower Farm and Schoolhouse heritage site which is managed by the Heritage Branch, Province of British Columbia. Several sections of the park were excavated in 1994, and since then, the 'digs' have turned into an annual event.

About the Collection
Artifacts removed from the DcRu4 archaeological dig are stored at the University of Victoria. Over 4500 artifacts have been recovered, and excavation for material still continues today. Items are classified from the historical period (less than 160 years old), or from the prehistoric period (160 years to 2500 years old).

About the web site and on-line collection
Site reports and details about the Kosapsom archaeological dig from the University of Victoria were used to make the Kosapsom section of this web site.
