Victorian Artifact Investigation
Five classroom activities for teachers to use. These will teach how to research an artifact, and to interpret an artifact using on-line collections and historic sites.

Activity #1: Identification of Faunal remains
Teach how to identify the bone and shell you would recover from an archaeological site. First, read about faunal analysis and the faunal remains at the Kosapsom site. Make your own bags containing different types of shell and bone, and have students in small groups fill out an analysis sheet.

Activity #2: Where to look!!
Students will learn what clues to look for in an archaeology site. From a fictional map, they will race to recover items you place in a park or on school grounds.
