Deanna Davis
"I like to art."

Born in The Pas, a small community in northern Manitoba, Deanna attends the University of Manitoba. Deanna discovered her artistic ability before grade school. She now works in various modes including paints, sculptures, printmaking and drawing. She enjoys using paints with oil and pastel.

Wanting fame and fortune in her early years, Deanna enrolled in various film courses at the Manitoba's Red River Community College. Now at the University of Manitoba, she is able to explore various elements in visual arts. "Different courses require different things. What I like about art is that you can do what ever you want, it doesn't matter if it is right or wrong."

Deanna expresses Aboriginal culture naturally in her art.

My Hands

I made molds of my hands and filled them with plaster. I do like my hands. What I like most about them is that they're mine. They're what I use to show everybody what's inside my head. I plan to use them a lot.

Famity

Famity is a piece I did as a collage. I got a thing for fame and famous people. Hollywood looks like disturbing fun from here in Winnipeg. Life wouldn't be as livable without watching the pretty life. It intrigues me.

It's a Tree

This painting is painted with acrylic on canvas. It was the first time I felt like an artist. Letting go and did what ever I wanted. I do love trees, for they are big, old and they reach the sky, most of all they live in the ground. I love this painting.

That Airplane

This is a lithograph of one of my most favorite images. I have this toy airplane that somebody gave to me. I love using it in my work. It relaxes me, while lithography doesn't have that effect. I have a deep relationship with lithography. It's so technical and hard. But, I do get to use Nitric Acid. And that's always fun.
