.Potash is the commercial name for a group of salts containing the element potassium. Used to make fertilizer, potassium chloride is the most important type of potash. Approximately 95% of it is made into fertilizer. Also, it is used to manufacture soap, detergent, glass, ceramics, textiles, dyes, chemicals and drugs. Potash is a very useful substance and very plentiful in Saskatchewan.

.Potash is one of Saskatchewan's major exports. It is estimated that there is enough potash in Saskatchewan to last the world well over a thousand years. The first discovery potash in Saskatchewan was in Radville. Drillers were looking for oil during the Second World War ran into a layer of potash under the Town of Radville. The potash was too deep so it was never mined.
