6 From country peddler to city store owner, 1925

Facts - Tweel Home and Store

Dear Mona,

There have been more and more automobiles on the road lately, even here in the country. It is good these country people can travel easier but not so good for my business as a peddler. Many no longer need to buy my goods when they can drive their cars to the nearest general store.

Some of the roads are even covered with a hard, grey substance which never turns muddy in rain or snow. That makes it even easier for people to travel.

I am sorry to burden you with this, but I am afraid I may soon have to find another way to earn a living, especially since we now have two children and a third on the way.

I miss you and the children very much.

love,

Omar
