The world's largest cache of Trithelodont bones has been found near Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. This photo shows a Trithelodont jaw. These mammal-like reptiles lived 201 million years ago, when dinosaurs were becoming the dominant land animals and many other creatures were becoming extinct. They are important because they may tell us how mammals evolved from reptiles. More information on the fossils found at Parrsboro and their scientific importance can be found here. |
