Don Reid Don Reid is a true fossil enthusiast. Born and raised in Joggins, Nova Scotia, he has collected beach fossils there for as long as he can remember. Often times, he did not know what the fossils were, but he kept asking questions until he found out. One of his most incredible discoveries was the very rare imprint of a Megasecoptera (a dragonfly-like insect with a wingspan of 10 cm/4 inches). Don's hints for a successful field trip to Joggins are simple. "Plan your trip in advance so that you don't get caught by the incoming tides. Give yourself lots of time to look for fossils on the beach once you're there." Don's extensive fossil collection is on display at the Joggins Fossil Centre, where you can also get information on the tide times.
