Neil Shubin Neil Shubin

Being a successful fossil finder requires patience and perseverance. Many palaeontologists spend their careers studying fossils, but globally significant discoveries are very rare.

Neil Shubin's greatest achievement to date was his monumental discovery of Triassic-Jurassic fossils at Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. With each unearthed bone fragment, new light is shed on the extinction event that separates the Triassic and Jurassic Periods. "There is so much new material," says Neil. "Parrsboro's story will be unfolding for many years."

Neil enjoys piecing together the clues hidden within the rocks and deciphering what the ancient world looked like. The find at Parrsboro led to his present work, comparing the knowledge gained from that site to other Jurassic fossils around the world.
