acid

added value:
A service or feature that adds value to a commodity, used to distinguish the provider from his or her competition.

adenine:
A white, finely crystalline alkaloid, usually obtained from tea by extraction or from uric acid by synthesis, used chiefly in medicine. One of four nucleoties which are the primary bulling blocks for DNA.

aerate:
To impregnate with air.

aeschynomene virginica:
Fabaceae, The pea family. Common name: Sensitive joint-vetch. Listed as threatened by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

aflatoxin:
Aspergillus flavus, which contaminates stored foods such as rice, wheat, peanuts, and corn under hot, humid conditions, produces a toxin called aflatoxin.

agars:
A gelatin like product used as a thickener.

aggregates:
A mixture of different mineral substances separable by mechanical means.

agrarian:
The division of agricultural lands

agri-chemical products:
Products which have been created by combining artificial (man made) materials with natural (agricultrual) materiels.

agro-products:
Products of the agriculture industry.

airborne:
Carried in the air, such as pollen or dust.

alcohol:
A family of chemicals having a string of carbon atoms surrounded with hydrogen atoms and at least one oxygen atom. Examples are ethanol and methanol. Alcohol can be made by fermenting sugars.

algae:
(phylum: Thallophyta)Microscopic plants that grow in fresh or salt water, in other organisms, or in water deposits on trees, rocks, etc.

alginates:
A salt or ester of alginic acid. See alginic acid.

alginic acid:
An insoluble carbohydrate found (chiefly as salts) in many brown seaweeds.

allegations (health):
A claim to certain health properties promising results.

alluvium:
A deposit of earth, sand, etc. laid down by rivers chiefly in the lower parts of their coarses.

aloe:
(genus: Aloe) A plant with toothed, fleshy leaves. The juice of aloes is often medically useful, either as a laxative or a soothing agent.

aloe vera:
A specific variety of aloe, whose juice is a soothing agent.

amino acid:
One of a class of organic acids having amino (NH2) groups in place of hydrogen atoms, in the hydrocarbon groups of fatty acids or other organic acids.

anabolic steroid:
Fat-soluble (lipid) organic compounds that occur naturally throughout the plant and animal kingdoms and play many important functional roles.

anaerobic:
A reaction or organism that can survive without air.

anaesthetics:
Substances that remove physical sensitivity, e.g. chloroform, ether, novocaine.

analysis:
Method of of studying the nature of something.

anaphylaxis:
An increased susceptibility to a foreign protein resulting from previous exposure to it, as in serum treatment.

annual:
A plant which grows from a seed, comes to maturity and dies within one year.

anomaly:
Something out of the ordinary.

antagonistic:
Acting in opposition.

antecedent:
Going before, in time or in any other sequence, preceding and in any other sequence.

anthocynanes:
A class of water-soluble pigments that typically give red and blue flowers their colour.

anti knock:
An additive or property of fuel that prevents premature combustion.

anti oxidants:
A group of chemicals that prevents the formation of free radicals.

anticoagulants:
A group of chemicals that prevents blood from clotting.

antiperspirants:
Compounds that prevent sweating.

aquasystems:
An advanced electrolytic process that emits small amounts of copper and/or silver ions into the system for the purpose of Bacteria bio-film and algea control.

aqueous:
A solution or mixture containing water.

arnica :
Arnica Montana Flowering plant whose flowers, dissolved in alcohol, are useful in treating bruises and sprains. Flat, daisy like flowers. Can be applied as base means for the treatment of psychotrauma It harmonizes chaotic, emotional experiences and makes them bearable. So also old mental wounds can be healed, and the blockades, which prevented so far a healing, resolve themselves.

artichoke:
Cynara scolymus A herbacious, thistle like plant, having an edible flower head.

asthma:
A condition wherein a person's windpipe gets inflamed and constricts, interfering with breathing. Often allergic.

atrazine:
A herbicide used in the production of corn and other crops in the United States.

atropine:
(C17H23NO3) A (very) poisonous compound found in belladonna. Prevents response to nerves , and so is useful in controlling spasms, lessening dilating the pupil for cosmetic reasons.
