HUMBOLDT ELEVATORS FILLED TO CAPACITY ARE UNABLE TO SECURE CARS TO RELIEVE THE PRESSURE
A rather serious grain congestion has occurred at Humboldt with the result that the farmers are at present experiencing some difficulty in securing storage for their grain when they come to town. The whole four elevators have filled to their capacity since last Saturday, and have been unable to secure cars to relieve the pressure.

The McNab Flour Mills Elevators is the only one of the four that is in a position to take in any grain and they are able to handle only the amount of their daily grinding, about 600 bushels.

It is not known how long this condition is liable to prevail, but it is sincerely hoped that it will not continue any length of time. The action of the Dominion Government of last Saturday when they seized all the wheat in the terminal elevators, estimated at about 15,000,000 bushels, has probably had something to do in causing present conditions.

The local elevators have been handling a tremendous amount of grain this fall, and it is estimated that not over forty percent of the grain of this

district has been marketed to date.

The Saskatchewan elevator has handled already this fall nearly 130,000 bushels of grain. Last year at this time they had received only 35,000 bushels. During the season of 1914 their total receipts amounted to 50,000 bushels. The Farmers Co operative elevator has handled to date this fall 150,000 bushels, and have been unable able to receive any grain for over a week.

The British America elevator has taken in 50,000 bushels this fall, and has been compelled to refuse offerings since last Saturday.

The McNab Flour Mills have handled over 125,000 bushels of grain of all kinds. They are still buying something like 600 bushels daily, which is the amount of their daily milling. It will thus be realized the heavy strain that has been put upon the railways in handling this tremendous crop, which is general all over the west. Humboldt is of course not the only point affected, as we understand that practically every elevator along the line is full to its capacity, and that just at present very few cars are available. It is fully expected, however, that there will be an improvement in conditions in a few days.
