WANT ROAD THROUGH HUMBOLDT TO CONNECT HUDSON BAY

Saskatoon, June 4:
"The completion of the Hudson Bay Railway and the opening via Hudson Strait of the Middle West's direct route to world markets being now assured, the time is opportune, in my judgment, for Saskatoon, in keeping with the city's traditions, to vigorously pursue a forward policy," said Mayor Russell Wilson in an interview with The Star Friday.

Asked what he had in view, his worship said: "As Mayor of Saskatoon, it is my policy in co-operation with the other members of the city council,

the Board of Trade, the Press and all other citizens, secure at the earliest possible date such railway construction as will link up Saskatoon and Hudson Bay Junction by the shortest possible mileage. While I cannot, of course, state definitely what that mileage would be, an approximate estimate is 175 miles. From there, The Pas is 88 miles, and from that town to Port Nelson is 424 miles, being a total of 687 miles from Saskatoon to tide water. The proposed line giving Saskatoon direct connection with the Hudson Bay railway would, no doubt, pass through Humboldt.
