The Grandchamps Property

noThe Grandchamps property consisted of two buildings, an inn and a tavern. Both buildings were constructed in the less costly piquet design. These were similar in construction, with one significant difference. One building was sheathed with horizontal boards to protect its walls from the effects of the weather.

Purchased by Julien Auger dit Grandchamp, these two buildings served as both a home and commercial enterprise for this soldier and his wife Louise-Thérèse Petit. With these buildings, Mme.Grandchamps was able to support herself after the death of her husband.
