In 1975, the following artifacts were found on Hog Island by Hubert Sark Sr. and Michael Sark. These artifacts and many more are on display at the Micmac Cultural Centre on Lennox Island, Prince Edward Island.


Spear Heads
Spear and arrow heads
used for hunting.
 
 Axeheads were used primarily for wood working.  Trees were chopped down using these axeheads.

Sharpening Stones
Stones that may have been used for sharpening.
 
Scrapers were rubbed back and forth on hide to help remove fat and hair.

Close examination of the top of this tool reveals etchings that seem to represent a duck flying over the lake.  This may well be the owner's signature.

Bones of animals were used for many purposes such as tools or jewelery.

Death was surrounded with rituals to protect the dead and soothe the living.  Grave goods help the soul on its journey.  Often, the tools were symbolically killed by being broken.
