ValentineÕs Day

After Christmas, ValentineÕs Day was the next favorite holiday for the Victorians. ValentineÕs cards became a popular keepsake for pasting into their scrapbooks. Victorian Valentines were treasured not only for their sentimental value but also for their visual beauty. From the beginning scraps were used as decorative additions to Valentine cards. The Victorians would start with a simple beautifully coloured picture and then enhanced it with paper lace, embossed decorations and other beautifully coloured prints.
