You will need:
- a small goldfish net
- paper and pencil
- a piece of string --1 meter long
- an insect identification book
- a freshwater plant identification book
1) Mark off the area of the stream to survey by laying the
string along the bank of the stream.
2) Observe the water. Record what you see.
3) Use the net to scoop through the water.
4) Draw a picture of each of the things you catch.
5) Record how many of each type of thing you found in your
net.
6) Label them using the identification books.
7) Choose two things you found and write about why they are important to each other.
