Water Awareness Activities
- Stencil Storm Drains
DUMP NO WASTE - DRAINS TO STREAM
You can help raise awareness about where storm drain water goes. Stencil signs around the
storm drains in your community. You can get help from your local public works department.
Draw and label a diagram or a flow chart which shows how waste dumped down a storm drain
may affect a salmon in a stream.
What effect would the waste have on a salmon?
- Map Your Watershed
WHERE DOES THE WATER GO?
Find out!
Map the contours that define your street's watershed. Share
your map with your neighbours.
- Identify Your Stream
HAIG-BROWN KINGFISHER CREEK - A SALMON STREAM
Let people know that there is a stream in your neighbourhood that plays an important role as
a home to fish and other wildlife. Identify your local stream or creek with a sign that tells people
the name of the waterway and what wildlife it supports. You can get help from the Department of
Fisheries Volunteer Resource Program.
