Profiles on Parade:
Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown
Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown is a very dedicated member of the Haig-Brown Kingfisher Creek Society. Anyone observing Kevin would assume that he was the "conductor" of the Society; granted, Kevin takes on many projects for the Society, and some (including himself) even say too many, but as more staff is employed by the society, less responsibility needs to be taken on by him. Backed by the board of directors, Kevin and the other members of the Implementation Committee act as a "quick response team", making all the critical decisions during the project's implementation.

Kevin’s initial involvement with the project was inspired by his work at Haig-Brown House, and started with his 1996 involvement as the Society rep on the Ad Hoc Planning committee, and with fund-raising efforts for the Society. Right from the start, Kevin’s visionary attitude, complete with a strong set of values he firmly upholds, has impressed everyone involved in the project.

When not in front of his Macintosh computer, Kevin can usually be found setting up, hosting, or attending meetings related to the Haig-Brown Kingfisher Creek Society. Kevin is excellent at pulling together people from all groups, regardless of their seniority or position, and bringing them to a common level of understanding so that problems can be resolved. This communication style has allowed the society to take advantage of Kevin’s vast array of contacts in many different fields.

Kevin has also been very valuable to the Haig-Brown Kingfisher Creek Project through his promoting and selling of it to others. His interpersonal skills, along with his intelligent and articulate approach to any conversation or meeting, have allowed him to effectively communicate the incredible value of completing the project.

As a firm believer in the power of small groups making a lasting difference, Kevin is honored to be working with the Haig-Brown Kingfisher Creek Society. He sees this project partially as an exercise in doing business, which spans far beyond the borders of the creek.

Kevin and his wife Masako are currently maintaining Haig-Brown House as a BC Heritage Site, and running it as a Bed & Breakfast, seminar centre and museum. The house is preserved as part of a monument to the memory of the late Roderick Haig-Brown.
