Why is it important to study local people from an area? Which other groups contributed to the development of Lethbridge? Why is it important to study individuals as well as groups that have contribution?

The War Years:
Grade 4, 5, 7, 8,10 This section will allow for some exploration into Lethbridge’s role in Military History.
How did Lethbridge contribute to the various war efforts?
Why do you think so many Canadians wanted to be involved in the conflicts that were going on in other countries?
Do you think Canada should be involved in overseas conflicts? Give two reasons to support your answer.
Do you think the people of Lethbridge did their fair share in the war efforts? (consider size and location)
*Suggested activities 1)Invite a war veteran come in to talk about his/her experience during one of the wars 2) Go to the Galt Museum to watch the video “Lethbridge at War” 3)Go to the Galt Museum for a tour of their military artifacts4)Go to the Legion to see their display cases and speak to some of the people there 5)Be involved actively in Remembrance day by having a school poster/ poem/skit or play contest that shows the that Lethbridge’s contribution to the war effort has not been forgotten.
