The
Development of Municipal Infrastructure
Scarlet fever, diphtheria, typhoid and small pox were
majors causes of death in the early 20th Century.
Due to the lack of proper sewage, water and heath
services Regina faced a number of epidemics and
outbreaks of various illnesses. It was not until the early
1900's when council began to act strongly in protecting
the public's health.
Engaging in a rigorous infrastructure campaign, the
new city undertook a number of initiatives to improve
the quality of life for its residents.
