Early Railway

In 1882, Honourable Edgar Dewdney, Lieutenant-Governor of the North-West Territories,
was charged with choosing the site for the new capital of the Territories somewhere
along the line of the new Canadian Pacific Railway. Dewdney selected the location
where the railway would cross Pile of Bones Creek. On June 30, 1882, when Dewdney
announced his choice, there were only three tents set up in this location near the present
site of Wascana Lake.
