Downtown Regina (1880 - 1900's) Once the location of the railway through the area was established it took no time at all for settlers and local businessmen to begin establishing themselves in the area. The first wooden shack in the community was built in Regina by Donald C. McDougall in 1882. Many more permanent buildings would follow, including land offices, general stores, a lumber yard and various trades shops including that of a watchmaker.
