The First Mayor of the City of Regina

June 19, 1903, with a population of 3,000, Regina officially
became a city. The City's first mayor was Jacob W. Smith.
Two years later, on September 4, 1905, the federal government
created the Province of Saskatchewan out of the Assiniboia
area of the North West Territories.

On May 23 of the following year, Regina was designated as
the Province's Capital.
