Business and Trade
Even though Regina was the Capital City agriculture, trade and industry
played major roles in its expansion. As more and more people immigrated
to the Saskatchewan and the Regina area, banks recognized that the new
city was a place with tremendous investment opportunities.
In 1903 Regina was granted special freight rates on farm equipment for
distribution. This factor made Regina the main distribution point for
finished Eastern products to rural areas, which further attracted additional
investments to the city ensuring its long-term viability as a major centre in
the region.
